Folks, there has been a serious bit of news going on lately and I haven’t even put out my commentary about it. Please forgive me for skipping over such a vital piece of news for so long. Paris Hilton has decided to turn from her raucous and raunchy ways and turn down the path of samaritanism. Apparently, her bit in the slammer has tamed this heiress gone wild and now she is thinking of ways to give back to society instead of taking so much. After leaving the clink she said that she wants to help her fellow inmates. That’s right I said her fellow inmates, apparently spending a few weeks in solitary confinement in the comfort of the infirmary has really given her an opportunity to get chummy with the populous.
I’m guessing that She is working on a make-up self help book detailing how to mask those unsightly black eyes, cover those shank scars and turn any nasty prison tattoo gone bad into a beautiful butterfly. Also included in the book, are tips for spending your entire sentence living in luxurious solitary in the infirmary, and hints on turning those mean, nasty guards into faithful servants.
You’re a true humanitarian Paris and for that we applaud you. That’s hot.
On a more serious note however, I have spent many years in a prison ministry and know the importance of a place for the inmates to stay after leaving prison. Paris Hilton does have plans to put together transitional homes for inmates when they get out, in an effort to keep the recidivism rate down. I may not be a fan of hers, and find the person she has been up to this point disturbing. But if she really does this, and changes herself into a productive member of society, then I will applaud that. But I’m holding out judgment. I’m kind of surprised that we haven’t already heard anything yet about her going on some psychotic bender and tearing up the place in a half naked frenzy. But there’s time.
